Overview:

Wright Vigar Ltd came to us seeking replacement windows for the front facade of their building, a total of six windows in all.

The existing metal sliding sash windows were integral to the building's design and proportions, contributing positively to the character of the conservation area. Any replacement windows needed to adhere to strict guidelines set by the Council to maintain the architectural integrity of the area.

What did we do?

With a previous planning application for UPVC replacements withdrawn due to non-acceptance by the Council in 2016, we were asked to explore options such as secondary glazing.

However, we were able to source some aluminium sliding sash windows that were ideal for their ability to replicate the aesthetics of the original Crittal windows while meeting modern standards for durability and energy efficiency.

Given the three-story nature of the building, our team employed scaffold and lifts to access each different section and safely install the large and heavy windows. This meticulous approach ensured the seamless integration of the new windows while preserving the building’s architectural heritage.
